Complexity is the very essence of the world we seek to navigate in Transformative Learning Labs.
These labs are geared to help participants harmonize the interplay between internal and external complexity, aimed at aligning our skills with the world's demands and discovering "the simplicity on the far side of complexity."
The challenges facing humanity are so intricate that our era is sometimes termed a crisis of complexity. This underpins our current ecological, economic, and social upheavals. In every scenario, what humanity needs to bring to the table is more intricate than our prevailing perspectives can grasp. Even our own creations—technologies, cultural memes, and organizations—are growing in complexity, amplifying the demands of daily life.

Meaning, Purpose, and Imagination: An Introduction to Imaginal Coaching
Drawing on neuroscience, mindfulness, embodiment, and the creative arts, Imaginal Coaching is sourced in over 30 years of innovation in the theory and practice of transformative learning at Meridian University. Imaginal Coaching integrates somatic, dialogic, depth, and transpersonal dimensions of human experience. An imaginal approach to coaching activates the transformative potentials of conversation sourced in the imagination while engaging the whole person through integrating practices of expressive embodiment and creative action. This approach enables coaching to engage the whole person while finely attuned to the cultural context of the person's life-world. Imaginal coaching recognizes that sustainable growth and change occur through the cultivation of imaginal capacities allowing for new possibilities to emerge from the liminal spaces between current reality and future potential.

Participatory Approaches to Facilitation
Effective facilitation is essential for creating conditions where transformative learning can emerge within groups, organizations, and communities. This course explores participatory approaches to facilitation that enhance collective intelligence and wisdom while honoring the diverse perspectives and experiences of participants. Students will develop competencies in designing and holding spaces for authentic dialogue, creative conflict, and collaborative meaning-making. The course examines how different facilitation methods serve varying contexts and purposes, from educational settings to organizational change to community development. Topics include: emergent design, power dynamics, cultural sensitivity, group development, psychological safety, and the role of the facilitator in transformative processes. Particular attention is given to the facilitator's own development and capacity to work with complexity, uncertainty, and liminal spaces. Students will gain practical experience through facilitation exercises while developing their personal philosophy and approach to participatory facilitation.

Individuals, families, teams, organizations, communities, and societies are all human systems nested within larger systems. Living systems change for better or worse without intentional or deliberate efforts, sometimes in profound ways. However, a portal to transformative change also opens when a system begins to be aware of itself. There is power and magic to systems change through collective intention and collaborative learning when there is systemic awareness of possibilities, including unintended consequences.
