Person-Centered Expressive Arts/Meridian Collaboration

The Person-Centered Expressive Arts Program (PCEA) and Meridian University's collaboration enables students to complete a graduate degree in Psychology at Meridian while concurrently completing a certificate program at PCEA.

The degree programs that offer this concentration are:

  • M.A. in Psychology
  • Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology
  • Ph.D. in Psychology

Both the Psy.D. and the Ph.D. meet the educational requirements for psychologist licensure in California.

The M.A. involves two years of coursework, the Psy.D. and Ph.D. involves four years of coursework. Each year, students can substitute 90 or 100 PCEA class hours for 9 or 10 quarter credits of Meridian coursework, for a total of 18-20 quarter credits of Meridian coursework over their two-year engagement with the PCEA program. In addition to taking the PCEA classes, earning Meridian credits entails completing additional academic reading and writing assignments for each PCEA class.

Learning Format

The learning formats at Meridian University make graduate education in psychology accessible to non-traditional students with family and professional commitments. Students in this concentration can participate in either Meridian's Blended Learning format (consisting of online learning and a week-long session in the Winter and Summer) or the Monthly Format (primarily face-to-face coursework over three weekends in each of the fall and spring quarters, a week-long session in the Winter and Summer, and a small portion of online coursework).

The Person-Centered Expressive Arts Certificate Program consists of six week-long Residential Intensives over two years, with a commitment to both years. These Residential Intensive Courses take place at the Asilomar Conference Center, Monterey Peninsula, California (two hours south of San Francisco and five hours north of Los Angeles).

Scholarship Program for PCEA/Meridian Students
