Cost of Attendance (COA)

MERIDIAN 2017–2018 ESTIMATED TUITION & FEES
FULL-TIME ATTENDANCE (4 QUARTERS)

Cost of Attendance is a budget determined by Meridian University to estimate the cost of education for the academic year. This estimate includes Direct Costs, such as tuition, residential/non-residential fees, and other fees (such as library fees), plus estimates of Indirect Costs, which include living expenses (outside of Meridian), books, travel, personal, and miscellaneous expenses.

Direct Costs

Direct Costs include tuition and residential/non-residential fees and other fees necessary to attend the program. These are the cost of items the student pays directly to the school. The chart below is a summarized amount of Direct Costs the student will need to cover attendance at Meridian University for one academic year of study, which consists of four consecutive quarters.

2017–18 Total Tuition and Fees (Direct Costs): Residential
PhD in Psychology PsyD in Clinical Psychology MA in Counseling Psychology MA in Counseling Psychology (3rd Year) MA in Psychology MEd in Organizational Leadership EdD in Educational Leadership MBA in Creative Enterprise
$22,050 $22,050 $22,050 $15,975 $22,050 $22,050 $22,050 $22,050
2017–18 Total Tuition and Fees (Direct Costs): Non-Residential
PhD in Psychology PsyD in Clinical Psychology MA in Counseling Psychology MA in Counseling Psychology (3rd Year) MA in Psychology MEd in Organizational Leadership EdD in Educational Leadership MBA in Creative Enterprise
$20,150 $20,150 $20,150 $15,025 $20,150 $20,150 $20,150 $20,150

The charts further below include an itemized list of both Direct Costs and Indirect Costs.

Please note: tuition and fee rates are expected to increase each year. All fees are reviewed annually and may be subject to increase by Meridian University at any time.

Tuition: Tuition is the amount charged for instruction. The tuition rates for each graduate degree are indicated in the charts below

Residential/Non-Residential Day-Use Fees: The Residential Fee covers the overnight accommodations for seven days/six nights during the Winter and Summer week-long session at nearby retreat center or hotels, and includes meals and miscellaneous day-use fees. The Non-Residential/Commuter Fee includes miscellaneous commuter and day-use fees. See the charts below for detailed residential/non-residential fee costs.

Dissertation or Clinical Case Study Fees: The dissertation fee covers an eight-quarter period and is equal to the tuition during the first year the student entered the program. As an example, for PhD and EdD students entering during the 2017–18 year, the dissertation fee would be $19,500. The clinical case study fee covers a four-quarter period and is equal to half of the tuition during the first year the student entered the program. As an example, for PsyD students entering during the 2017–18 year, the clinical case study fee would be $9,750. If a student withdraws and then re-admits, their doctoral project fees will be based on the Schedule of Charges in place at the time of their re-enrollment. PhD and EdD students who find that additional time beyond the eight quarters is necessary for completion of their dissertation (and PsyD students who find that additional time beyond the four quarters is necessary for completion of their clinical case study), must enroll in the extended four-quarter clock, which is half of the fee charged for the initial eight-quarter period or the fee for the four-quarter period.

For more information regarding financial aid eligibility during the doctoral project phase of the program and for a breakdown of doctoral project fees, download the Doctoral Project Financial Aid Information sheet.

Additional Resource fees: Students pay an annual fee for access to numerous online databases.

Indirect Costs

The estimated figures of Indirect Costs are provided by College Board and are based on both California regional and metropolitan budgets developed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as well as benchmarked against other comparable graduate programs. These figures are only estimates.

Individual student costs may vary based on individual standards of living and where the student lives. Students who find that the estimates indicated on the chart below do not adequately reflect their cost, may request an adjustment to their Cost of Attendance in writing to the Financial Aid Office.

Students should be prepared to meet the additional costs of their degree program. These additional costs can include travel, accommodations, food, textbooks, learning guides, readers, conference call charges, doctoral project editors, computer software and hardware, courses at other institutions, other commercial database searches, professional meetings, trainings, conferences, and/or workshops. Learning consultants or other editors are the sole responsibility of the students using their services.

*****The retreat center that Meridian has contracted with for most of 25 years burned down in the fires that enveloped parts of Sonoma and Napa counties in October 2017. While Meridian looks for an alternative site for the winter and summer weeks, the features and cost of the Residential Plan cannot be confirmed. Once the new site is confirmed, all students who have signed up for the Residential Plan will be notified of the updated cost and features and will have the option of switching to the $500 Day-Use Fee at that time.

Note: An "Optional" fee is required when a student selects an optional service.
